The picturesque seaside town of Spring
Lake offers its residents and vacationers an unhurried
atmosphere of gracious living which has made it a unique resort at the Jersey
Shore for more than 100 years. Two
miles of uncluttered beach and the longest non-commercial boardwalk in New
Jersey add to the one-of-a-kind atmosphere of Spring
Lake.
Turn-of-the-century architecture borders the wide tree-lined streets which surround a large lake. "Spring Lake" is named for the fountains of crystal clear water which emanate from a multitude of underground springs. Paths, shady nooks and rock gardens extend through the weeping willow lined shores of the lake and provide a peaceful spot for a quiet evening walk. Stroll through the park, walk across the bridges and enjoy Third Avenue, its’ quaint main street. Explore the town and boardwalk on a bike or relax on the beach.
People visit this community for its boardwalk and sand-dune beaches, which are rare at this part of the shore. This family oriented town includes four main beaches (North Beach, North End Pavilion Beach, Pier and South End Pavilion Beach) which are tranquil and sparsely populated during the week, but get lively on summer weekends. Behind the beaches and boardwalks, beautiful homes with well kept gardens and shrubbery on quiet streets add an extra special charm.
Although a quiet town, Spring Lake does have many activities to offer. Surfing is a year-round pastime and is officially done at Monmouth Avenue and Remsen Avenue during the summer. Scuba Diving is also popular, and there is a ship wreck just off Spring Lake which attracts many divers. Fresh and saltwater fishing can be done right off the beach. Concerts are often held at the Gazebo or the theater at the Community House. The town is noted for more than 60 fine shops and boutiques and a variety of gourmet restaurants are here to tempt your appetite. Everything from home-cooked meals in a quiet atmosphere to continental cuisine in elegant surroundings is available. Staying at one of Spring Lake’s romantic bed & breakfast inns will make your visit a truly enjoyable experience.
