The nurserymen of Monmouth County have been, in large measure, responsible for the many specimen trees and shrubs established in the Arboretum. They have donated plant material, time and expert advice, enabling the Arboretum to progress rapidly.

Friends of the Shade Tree Commission have generously donated specimen plan materials to the Arboretum. This collection of plants includes a Weeping Pagoda tree and Weeping Ginkgo among many other weeping specimens.

Individuals have donated plants in memory of a loved one or friend. Several donations have been large collections. One collection in memory of David Rossheim is comprised of true cedars (Cedrus). Another collection, donated in memory of Monmouth County nurseryman Henry Handleman by his widow Minna, is a simulation of the garden Mr. Handleman had planted at his home.
