Sightseeing, shopping and "snacking" in Europe's most beautiful port cities |

By Carole Kaiman, Cloud Nine Travel Services, LLC
I have just returned from a wonderful cruise on the Oceania Cruise Line to some of the nicest ports in Europe. I'd like to share a few my experiences with you, for cruises you
might want to consider.
Oceania has three beautiful ships, all identical in design, holding 684 passengers with 354 in staff – a great service ratio. They also have a Gourmet Executive Chef designing the fantastic menus. But despite all the opulent meals onboard, you still need to save room to sample some of the local specialties when you tour the towns. You’ll walk-off the few extra calories, I promise.
A few Cruise Highlights, with some sightseeing and “snacking” tips to whet your appetite:
ATHENS: Olympic stadium and the magnificent Acropolis; Wall-to-wall shops and cosmopolitan cafes on the Plaka…Stuffed grape leaves and a glass of Retsina.
AMALFI/POSITANO ITALY: Coastal winding road with breathtaking views; beautiful villas clinging to the slopes around a beautiful bay…Chilled seafood and a glass of the local white wine.
FLORENCE ITALY: The fabulous Renaissance city, packed with historic churches and art museums; The famous "David" by Michelangelo…the Duomo and Baptistry, with its “Gates of Paradise” doors, the truly fabulous Uffizi Gallery…Great gelato on every corner, prosciutto, cheeses and wonderful red wines in every little café…Shop till you drop! Handmade leather goods and gold jewelry… at bargain basement prices.
MONTE CARLO FRANCE: Home of the really "Rich and Famous": Fabulous luxury yachts in the Harbor…the Grand Casino and gardens; the church and town of St Paul De Vence. Watch bocce ball games over a nice glass of wine and a little plate of antipasti.
AIX EN PROVENCE FRANCE: Provençal countryside and the village of AIX; Medieval streets, hidden walkways dotted with patisseries and cafes; Warm fresh bread and cheese; delightful local wines… and people watching. Leather and pottery galore.
BARCELONA SPAIN: Vibrant city with the La Familia Segrada, Antoni Gaudi's unfinished
Cathedral masterpiece. Stroll down the Ramblas, the famed downtown promenade
and stop at one of the many sidewalk cafes offering irresistible tapas and sangria. Hint; take the city bus for 18 Euros for the whole day - with on and off privileges; sit atop for best views.
We wish that everyone could experience each beautiful stop on this cruise. If you
would like additional information or have any questions, I'd be happy to
reply by phone or email.
Hope you enjoyed this short synopsis of the beautiful ports in Europe!
